The D.O.C called into Sirius XM’s “From The Press Box to Press Row Show” with Donal Ware for an exclusive interview. Not only did he speak on the success of Straight Outta Compton, but he also revealed that his voice is somewhat functional 25 years after his career-ending accident. D.O.C, who was born Tracy Lynn Curry, reflected on the moment when his voice first returned while he was in prison.
“About a year and a half ago, my voice started coming back on its own. If I concentrate, I can speak with a natural voice again,” said the former member of the Fila Fresh Crew.
For those who haven’t heard Curry’s voice since the release of his successful debut album, then hearing his voice in the interview will send chills down your spine. D.O.C. also spoke on the importance of the accident and why it was included in the film.
“That accident was a pivotal point in Hip-Hop,” said Curry. “Everything changed that night,” he said about the night that prompted him, Dr. Dre, and Suge Knight to leave Ruthless Records.
