After retiring from the NBA, Steve Nash will continue to explore his artistic side and will produce a film about 1980s Dallas, Texas and the popular drug, Molly! A film about the origins of a drug always seem to excite audiences and this will not be his first time producing so we should expect good things.

The currently untitled film will show 1980s Dallas and the rave scene when Molly, a then legal form of ecstasy, was just hitting the streets. The drug became illegal in 1985 when the DEA and government saw increased street use after mass production of the drug. Steve Nash entered the NBA in 1996 in Phoenix and then moved on to Dallas and here, he still saw the affects of Molly.

According to Steve he witnessed the drug take over first hand, “Having played in Dallas for six years, I was drawn to this project for its relationship with the city. After poring over the material I found an incredibly unique story with so many vibrant characters and a bold history known as the origin to the rave scene ecstasy culture. Its footprints are now all over the world.” As a NBA player, I’m sure during his time in Dallas, he definitely came across the party types pretty often, from that aspect the film should have a realistic storyline.

In prior years, Steve has produced commercials for Nike; however, this will be his first major film. The production company is also his own that he started with a family member.
