Universal Picture announced this week that they are willing to pay for added security at movie theaters that are playing the highly anticipated film ‘Straight Outta Compton.’ The film is set to premier Friday (August 14th).

Coming off two back to back movie theater shootings in Louisiana and Tennessee added security for this film sounds pretty good to me. Universal Pictures released a statement saying although it is not required they do support the extra security. The statement read “The studio has not solicited enhanced security for theaters who will begin showing it this weekend, but has partnered with those exhibitors who have requested support for their locations.”
‘Straight Outta Compton’ is just one of many films with gang related themes that has called for added security measures in theaters. The opening weekend of ‘Boyz n the Hood’ as well as ‘Notorious’ also beefed up security.
Hopefully, the security can just serve as a precaution and everyone can just enjoy the film.
