August is moving quickly and its about to be September. For some of us, it means another college semester is around the corner. Also, its a daily reminder of the hefty amount of loans we owe to our schools. Dr. Boyce Watkins says college is not the only way!

Dr. Boyce Watkins sat down with VladTV to discuss the current state of education in America.Watkins talked about how college was an established factor years ago but it may not be very relevant today. Recently, thousands of college students have been pulled into debts that last a lifetime. Some people graduate and still are left in poverty with loans that are unpaid.

Since the rise of the internet, many new opportunities are available for success in the minority community. Since college has basically turned into a business it should not be somone’s only factor to advancement. Watkins added that college is an amazing opportunity for growth and learning but it should not be somone’s golden ticket.Many entrepreneurs and business owners opted out of college and are very successful.
