Nobody beats the wiz [ha, felt like being an 80s reference]. Rap females finest, Queen Latifah along with Mary J. Blige has been called on to perform in NBC’s live broadway musical, The Wiz.

The adaption of The Wizard of Oz will star Latifah as the Wiz while the R&B diva Mary J. will portray the Wicked Witch of the West, Evillene.

According to The Hollywood Reporter:

The Wiz will be executive produced by Sound of Music and Peter Pan duo Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, with Tony-winning director Kenny Leon attached to direct both the live event as well as the Broadway revival in 2016-17. Tony winner and Broadway icon Harvey Fierstein will contribute new material to the original book by William F. Brown and work alongside Zadan, Meron and Leon.

This shall be dope. Two iconic woman in an even more iconic stage play. YES! The musical is scheduled for Thursday, December 3. Perfect timing.
