During his historic trip to Africa, President Obama made a stop in Ethiopia to make a speech to the African Union in Addis Ababa. During the speech he urged leaders to share their power and be open to the idea and value of change in government. In an effort to make a his point the President used his own presidency as an example, making an unique comment about the 2016 presidential election.

In his speech regarding charge in African government, President Obama said he could win a third term in the white house. “Under our Constitution, I cannot run again,” he continued, “I actually think I’m a pretty good president” adding, “I think if I ran, I could win. But I can’t.”
He explained that this is a good thing for government saying, “I know someone with fresh blood, new insights will be good for my country.”
The president told the African leaders that he’s looking forward to life after the presidency. He said, “I’m looking forward to life after being president,” telling them he can still serve his country but also spend more time with his family and travel more without all the security. This speech was the last part of his trip and the POTUS will return to Washington on Tuesday.
