Looks like Instagram is trying to maintain their ‘G’ rating with the removal of another hashtag. Instagram has banned the hashtag, #curvy from the search queue so guidelines are not violated.
According to a statement that Instagram made to Today.com, they have decided to remove #curvy from their search because it was being used in a way that violates the app/site’s guidelines. LOL. I guess there were pictures of curvy women, probably naked, that caused Instagram to remove the hashtag from it’s search.
The #curvy hashtag is not the only banned search that IG has put into place. #Curvy follows suit in banned searches from others like butt and thick. LOL! They definitely don’t want the bros to have any opportunity to see what they consider as porn on Instagram. Genius idea, maybe someone can develop a ‘MA’ rated Instagram [Someone’s going to steal my idea, watch]?
Instagram says they often block certain searches that are commonly used to promote porn or those that violate community guidelines. Surprisingly, some groups are taking offense to the ban saying that Instagram is discriminating against plus-sized women and I guess they need a searchable outlet for dudes/women that are into them? LOL!
An argument that has been brought to attention is that IG has not banned words like thin or skinny, so they should reinstate the #curvy hashtag. Yeah, I think they are missing the point; however, I agree, bring it back!
