Let’s be honest … we all know why 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, filed for bankruptcy. The news hit almost immediately following the $5 million ruling in the sex tape lawsuit case against Rick Ross’ child’s mother, Lastonia Levinston. During a stop by the late night show CONAN, 50 brings himself to reveal why he actually filed.

“I needed protection,” the joke master tells host, Conan O’ Brien. “When your successful and publicly-noted, you become the ideal person for people to have lawsuits for.” While getting out of $5 million in lawsuit funds, he decided to poke fun at himself by standing in front of a smart car.

Sparing no expense, Conan asks 50 about his poking fun at Diddy for allegedly assaulting his son’s coach. “When I first heard it, it was just funny to me,” he says. “No matter what you do, you get these different statuses [naming you] writer, producer, mogul and soon as you get in trouble they go .. rapper.” The ‘rapper’ added that he felt better poling fun at it because it wasn’t a serious issue.
