Yet again, Rihanna decides to make her mark on the world. The fashion icon and record breaking songbird is linking up with Stance Socks to be named as creative director for their new limited-edition “Murder Rih Wrote” over-the-knee and crew-cut socks collection.

The inspiration rises from a newsprint typography and horror movie poster art. “Very Rihanna,” said Candy Harris, the vice president of the women’s division of Stance Socks.

“She’s one of the few women in fashion whose style can go from street to couture in the blink of an eye,” says Harris, and they are unveiling Rihanna as its latest “Punk and Poet” – the brand’s term for spokesperson – and contributing creative director. “I know a lot of people are probably saying ‘Why socks?’ And that’s really the beauty of it,” Harris adds, “and that’s why Rihanna’s perfect, because she’s constantly innovating and looking to see what’s next. Socks are not really a trend; they’re a fashion staple.”

By September, eighteen Stance Socks styles will be release, followed by the [almost] same amount for a holiday collection in November.

Like sunglasses and purses, I love socks. At any given time, my drawer has 50+ designs so I am most definitely going get a pair of these – I say a pair because the socks will be retailed at $30. I mean, hmm…
