Donovan McNabb was adamant he was NOT DRUNK when he was arrested for DUI in Arizona after crashing into a car stopped at a red light despite the bottle of tequila in his trunk.
TMZ Sports obtained footage shot at the crash scene on June 28th in which the ex-NFL quarterback staunchly defends himself, even after an officer says he can smell the booze on McNabb’s breath.
When asked if he had any recent head injuries, McNabb says, “Listen, I played football.”
During the arrest, cops searched McNabb’s Land Rover and found a plastic bag full of cash including $100 bills, plus an expensive watch and other valuables.
When officers checked his trunk, they found a bottle of tequila but it appeared to be full. During the search, one officer says there’s “lots of alcohol” in the car.
McNabb claimed he had been taking cold medicine before the crash and was sucking on cough drops.
However, in the footage, he admits he had been driving from a nearby sports bar called Blue 32 and was trying to get home to his wife and kids.
McNabb — who couldn’t have been nicer to the officers — doesn’t seem sloshed in the video but didn’t exactly ace the eye test, which was also captured on video.
In the end, cops believed McNabb was intoxicated and arrested him for DUI.
