NBA free agency is still ongoing and today we have another big signing. As expected, LeBron James has agreed to re-sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers but here’s the deal…
LeBron James agreed to a two-year, $46.9 million deal with Cavaliers including a player option for a second year according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.
As you already know, the NBA salary cap will rise significantly next year due to the league’s new TV deal. James has already made it clear that he is a business man and that is the reason for his short contract, in anticipation of more money. So he will probably opt out again next year before signing a long term deal.
That still of course hasn’t stopped speculation that he could bolt again if things don’t go as planned with the Cavaliers. They have Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love locked up as the counterparts of the Big 3 for the next few years. Both players however were injured during the Cavaliers playoff run and LeBron had to run the show himself, making it all the way to the NBA Finals before losing to the Golden State Warriors.
They’ll give it another shot this upcoming season. If things go wrong again, well then next year’s free agency could get really interesting.
