It isn’t really much of a surprise that the Giants have decided to with draw their offer of $60 million to Jason Pierre-Paul after he was hurt during the 4th of July. Although reports were initially saying JPP’s injuries are not career ending, the Giants’ move to withdraw definitely speaks volumes.
There has not been too many updates surrounding the condition of JPP other than the fact that he would most likely still be able to play. However, JPP is said to still be in the hospital receiving treatment, so, that in itself tells us that his injuries are not minor.
Early reports were indicating that he suffered severe burns to his fingers and the palm of his hand. Also, doctors were reportedly looking to see if any of his fingers suffered nerve damage. JPP has been hospitalized since Saturday and unfortunately, no real status of his well being has been released.
Great news, though, is that JPP has not lost any of his fingers and that is always a concern when talking about explosives. The Giants pre-season games are just a little more than a month away, so, from a business standpoint, it is understandable why they would withdraw such a big contract from an injured player.
JPP is going to be a free agent during Summer 2016 and it is reported that he was going to decline the offer anyway. Unfortunately for JPP, the Giants decided to use their franchise tag on him to ensure that he would play for another year, however, he has not even signed that. So, what does this mean for JPP going forward financially?
We definitely will be watching close to see if the extent of his injuries are released and weather or not he will be able to touch the field by the time the regular season rolls around.
