Nobody expected LaMarcus Aldridge to make a decision on free agency until early next week. He reportedly just surprised everyone though, by agreeing to a deal with the San Antonio Spurs!

How can you not respect the Spurs? All they do is reload and remain contenders every year no matter how many times they hear they are too old, or their style is boring. With the addition of Aldridge, combined with the re-signing of Kawhi Leonard, the Spurs core is now slightly younger and ready to make deep playoff runs for years to come.

When you throw in Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker, Danny Green & more, the Spurs are once again the favorite to come out of the west next year, along with the OKC Thunder, Golden State Warriors and the Rockets.

With Aldridge leaving the Blazers, Portland has now lost what feels like is their entire team from last year except Damian Lillard.

If you thought the Spurs were about to slowly fade away after the Duncan era, think again.

Aldridge, who turns 30 on July 19, has spent all nine seasons of his NBA career with the Portland Trail Blazers, developing into one of the league’s best big men. He has been an All-Star each of the past four years and was named to the All-NBA second team last season after averaging a career-best 23.4 points with 10.2 rebounds and one block per game.

Similar to DeAndre Jordan, since Aldridge is going to Texas with no state tax, that $80 million goes a long way!
