Anthony Mackie has been set to star as Martin Luther King Jr., opposite Bryan Cranston who will play Linden B Johnson in All The Way, which will air on HBO. Production starts in September and it will be executive produced by Steven Spielberg. Hit the jump for details.
All The Way, An adaptation of the Tony-winning play that Cranston won a Tony for, starts off the moment the assassination of John F. Kennedy made Linden B. Johnson the 36th president of the United States. Then continues throughout Linden Johnson’s turbulent first year, which included him passing Civil Rights legislation.
Mackie will co star as Falcon in Captain America: Civil War, and he just recently wrapped the comedy Xmas, opposite Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt; and Our Brand Is Crisis co-starring Sandra Bulock. Mackie is also going to step into another black icon’s shoes, when he stars in the Jesse Owens biopic. You might remember Mackie as Tupac from the Notorious movie, and from co- staring in Pain and Gain with Marc Wahlberg and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
