Tyga released his oft-delayed The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty on Spotify for free as a surprise last week, though only available to stream. A few days later, on a Friday, it was made available on iTunes.
Update:
Tyga responds to Complex about the low sales, see what he says in the gallery above.
Back in June, Troy Ave released his Major Without A Deal album on iTunes on a Friday as well, which because it was in place of the traditional Tuesday release, resulted in only 3 days worth of “first-week” sales, since Nielsen Soundscan closes their tracking on Sunday nights for the week. The result was 4,373 units sold in those 3 days for Troy, something he caught a ton of flack for on social media. Tyga now has him beat, though.

Now that the charts are available, Complex did some digging and found that T-Raww moved a whopping 2,200 units in those 3 days. Jeez! For his part, Tyga had the following to say in response to their findings:
@complex label I put it out for free on spotify last tues. the whole purpose was to stream it.Kuz label problems. Got millions of streams.
So…there’s that.
