Following a traffic stop, rapper Nipsey Hussle, real name, Ermias Asghedom was arrested in Burbank, California.

Early Wednesday morning, Nipsey Hussle was spotted by Ford Street and Magnolia Boulevard by Burbank police officers around 11 a.m. The initial stop was for traffic violations and an outstanding warrant for driving on a suspended license.

With Nipsey’s permission, the officers searched his vehicle where they found a bottle of codeine without a prescription label, a cup of ice and a “soft drink.” LEAN. These ingredients were familiar with the officers, so the “Mailbox Money” rapper was then arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance.

“People who abuse codeine to get high commonly acquire it either from friends/associates or through fraudulent prescriptions, and remove the prescription label to mask where it came from and who it was prescribed to,” Cornils said.

Nipsey has since been released after posting a $1,000 bail.
