As the draft steadily approaches there’s always a player or two who comes out of nowhere and rises steadily on the draft board. That player this year is Kristaps Porzingis. He is the guy shaking up the top of the draft board — he’s got a lot of fans in NBA front offices. They see a guy already more than seven feet tall and incredibly long, who has shooting range out to the NBA three-point line, and who is a fluid athlete. The draft prospects did interviews today and Porzingis said something that had a lot of people scratching their heads.
According to ESPN reporter Andy Katz:
Kristaps Porzingis says NYK is best organization in NBA. Also can handle spotlight in NY. Did pro day in LV, visited NY.
Either the Knicks promised to draft him or he just REALLY likes the team. The Knicks have been terribly run and are far from the best organization in the NBA and this is coming from me, a lifelong Knicks fan. Porzingis declaration will certainly rub many other teams the wrong way, not just because he gave the competitor the ultimate praise, but also because his decision and assessment making is now highly questionable.
