2015 Essence Festival presented by Coca-Cola in New Orleans is almost upon us. Acts such as Kendrick Lamar, Doug E. Fresh, Kool Moe Dee, Mase, Mystikal, Common, Slick Rick, Erykah Badu and more are expected to shut it down between July 2-5. Missy Elliott is amongst the artists to perform and she explains the significance of being on that stage.
More after the jump!
During an exclusive interview with HipHopDX, Missy explained why performing held so much meaning. One reason being that Essence is a publication geared toward black women and it’s just an honor to be apart of something huge. “I’m honored to be performing at Essence this year…I’ve always heard how live the crowd is and they always been known to have some of the best artists performing, so it’s an honor. I’m humbly grateful and I want to see my fans and we just gonna have a lot of fun.”
If you are attending this year’s festival, you can catch Missy on the big stage July 4th.
