So many people have grown up on this series and I’m looking forward to bringing Tracy Ellison’s story to life through film. It’s my hope to continue to help bring diverse stories to the big screen.” said Lathan.
The book Flyy Girls synopsis reads: “In FLYY GIRL, Omar follows Tracy Ellison, a young girl with light brown hair, slanted hazel eyes, tall hair and plenty of attitude as she comes of age during the hip-hop era. Motivated by the material life, Tracy, her friends, and the young men who will do anything to get next to them are plunged into a world of violence, gratuitous sex, and heartbreak. Slowly, Tracy begins to examine her life, her goals, and her sexuality – as she evolves from Flyy Girl into a woman.”
