Poetic rapper who goes by the name Mykki Blanco has decided to come out and open up to the world about his huge secret he’s been harboring for quite some time. The transgender/multigender artist revealed this past Saturday that he’s been living with the HIV disease since 2011.
“I’ve been HIV Positive since 2011, my entire career,” he wrote via his Facebook page. “F— stigma and hiding in the dark, this is my real life.” He went on to write, “I’m healthy I’ve toured the world 3 times but ive been living in the dark, its time to actually be as punk as i say I am. I just cant be an image living in fear having people call me brave and it being a lie.”
He was praised by his fans with messages telling him how brave and heroic he is for being able to admit being HIV positive to everyone.
I could imagine how difficult something so personal can be to admit to the world, but it is a very honorable thing to do. Moral of the story: Fellas– WRAP IT UP!
