Rev Al Sharpton blames the parents of Rachel Dolezal for most of her actions. The woman who has now went viral becoming known for pretending to be African American. Her parents recently put her on blast about faking the funk about even being African American.
Rachel went to great lengths to prove to people she was an African American, but Al Sharpton blames Rachel’s parents. “It’s not about her race. There are Whites in all of our, and there are Whites that died in the civil rights movement,” said Sharpton. “I think the question they want to deal with is her honesty. You have to be transparent.” basically stating that she should embrace her own identity but there is nothing wrong with fighting for equality rights for other people. Maybe Rachel felt strongly about the situation. Her parents leaving her is part of the reason Al Sharpton blames the parents especially when they only out’d her identity to hurt her more than they already have.
The point he is trying to make when Al Sharpton blames Rachel’s parents is that somewhere along the line they made her feel so isolated and detatched that she probably resented them , and possibly the race. It doesn’t take much for a kid to realize or chose to see equality in a world where so much shade is directed in racial ways.
