Fortunately, a Chicago high school student Arianna Alexander won’t incur a large amount of student debt in her lifetime. Her superior work ethic and tenacity got her accepted to 26 universities. Plus, she’s been offered $3 million in scholarships.
“I applied to over 20 schools,” she says. “I got accepted into 26 schools, including six of the eight Ivys and that was a chunk of change right there. And then I’m a Gates Scholars and that was big chunk there.” The valedictorian of Kenwood Academy, class of 2015, managed to graduate with a GPA of 5.1. Without selective enrollment practices, Kenwood Academy has a proclivity for producing proficiency. The educational institution had five Gates Scholars and the year before three. In 2012 there were two and five in 2011.
Alexander hails from Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood.
Arianna wants to eventually own several restaurants. So that business degree she plans to receive from Penn’s Wharton School of Business, will help her trajectory toward entrepreneurship.
