The terrible series of events that occurred in McKinney, Texas has sparked up another major controversy. Before police were called to the community pool in Craig Ranch, a fight had broken out between two white residents and an African-American minor after a dispute about a pool party that was “out of control.” When the McKinney Police Department arrived, Officer David Eric Casebolt took matters into his own hands and pinned down a 14-year-old girl in an attempt to arrest her and pulled his gun out on other minors in the area. Now his attorney has confirmed that Casebolt will be giving up his badge. Find out the details after the jump.
Officer David Eric Casebolt has officially resigned from his position at the McKinney Police Department. His resignation comes not long after he was put on administrative leave because of a video which shows Casebolt using excessive force on young teenagers. He pinned down Dajerria Becton, 14-year-old African-American girl, to the ground and pulled out his gun and pointed it at other teens. Throughout the video Casebolt is heard repeatedly cursing at them all.
Since the video went viral at the top of the week, the outrage and racial tension in McKinney has been at an all-time high. In a march that was held last night (Jun 8), concerned citizens held up posters and pleaded for Casebolt to be fired and held responsible for his actions. It looks like they got what they wanted.
