Lawrence Phillips was a star running back at the University of Nebraska in the mid 90’s with a bright future ahead of him. His Life went spiraling down when he was sentenced to 31-years in prison after running his car over 3 teenagers and assaulting his ex-girlfriend — then killing one of his cellmates.

Phillips was selected in the first round of the 96 NFL draft, only to have it all taken away from him in the blink of an eye.

Phillips decided to share some of the chilling facts he’s faced while in prison, that was revealed in letters he sent to his former coaches.

“We are on lock down at this time due to a murder and the stabbing of five other dudes. I hope you and your family are well and had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.”

“All they they want to do is the drugs, make knives and make alcohol. Then they say when they get out they will not come back. I tell them of course you will. You are doing the same thing that got you locked up. Of course they do not want to hear that. It is like speaking to a brick wall.”

“We are still on lock down because they found a hacksaw in someone’s cell. Apparently people use the saw to cut up the bunks and make knives. It is completely nuts in here. It is pretty much a free for all.”

Phillips revealed that he’s been in ‘the hole’ after killing his former cellmate and taken away from any civilization. The hand written letters may be the only way he can get any thoughts out of his head.
