With free agency and the draft over and gone, teams now have a majority of their rosters put together and are focusing on getting some practice time in to get ready for the upcoming season. It’s never to early in the the season to throw some shots and cause drama it seems, after New York Jets cornerback, Antonio Cromartie, had some not-so-nice things to says about Richard Sherman.
Richard Sherman is widely recognized as one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL, and if you were to ask Sherman, he’d probably tell you the same thing, just like he told Michael Crabtree in the NFC conference game last year.
Antonio Cromartie apparently doesn’t feel the same way. The recently signed New York Jets cornerback, who spent the last year playing for the Arizona Cardinals, had a different opinion about Seattle Seahawks corner saying much of his success is just a product of the secondary he plays on. He then went on to say:
“Go follow the number one receiver. Follow him around for a whole entire game and let’s see what you can do. Darrelle Revis has done that his whole career. I’ve done that. Patrick Peterson has done it. Joe Haden has done it.”
Seeing that Sherman plays only one side of the field and has the best secondary in the NFL backing him up, you can se the point that Cromartie is trying to make. But, to say that Sherman is solely a product of his secondary is quite ludicrous. Considering the fact that Revis is his teammate and good friends, he is probably just trying to say that his teammate is by-far the best corner in the league.
Hopefully Sherman gets wind of what Cromartie had to say and a good-old-fashioned war of words spews out. Always good to see the drama ensues over the offseason to keep things fresh.
