Method Man has been teasing us about dropping his fifth LP for some time now. Last year, Meth announced a promotional mixtape that would proceed his forthcoming solo album. Now the proposed mixtape has evolved into his next full-length album, and it has a release date. The Wu-Tang rapper has confirmed that he’ll be releasing his next body of work by the end of the summer and it will represent Staten Island better than the Wu did when they first broke onto the scene in the early ’90s. Watch the official trailer for his new album after the jump!
Method Man confirmed the release date of his fifth album The Meth Lab. The Tical emcee will be dropping the album via Hanz On/Tommy Boy and will feature the veterans and the new voices of Staten Island. Meth’s upcoming solo LP will feature Wu-Tang’s own Raekwon, Inspectah Deck, Wu affiliates Hanz On and Streetlife, and his partner-in-crime Redman. The album will also feature production from Ron Browz, Allah Mathematics, and 4th Disciple. Meth premiered the official trailer via Nerdist and explained how the album will feature new artists from Staten Island outside of the Wu.
“I wanted this one to be a platform for more Staten Island artists to be heard that aren’t getting heard, because you know if it isn’t Wu Tang–I mean, we never blocked anyone from trying to get a record deal. I mean the way the record industry works is, if something’s not broke, don’t fix it. Bottom line is there’s a lot more talent to be heard from Staten Island outside of Wu Tang artists, and these kids are dope. I wanted to just give them a platform to be heard. I’m on every song, but I’m not exactly on any songs by myself, with the exception of one.”
