Not too long ago T.I. posted an Instagram picture of him and his 2006 co-star giving fans of the popular movie ATL hope that a sequel was in the works. But Lauren London sat down for an interview with the YBF and let fans in on a little secret. Click read more for the details.
Lauren London who plays ‘New New’ alongside T.I. in the original film, confirmed that the original cast did meet up with the director Chris Robinson earlier in the year. However, she said the idea for a sequel is nothing more than an idea at this point.
She said, “It’s not definitely in the works,” and continued, “I don’t want to be the spokesperson for it. I don’t want people take my word for it. So, no. Right now it is a concept and there’s a lot of possibilities with that.”
Now LoLo statement is completely opposite of what a few of her co-stars have been saying about an upcoming feature.
Jason Weaver who plays ‘Teddy’ in the film posted news for the sequel on his Twitter back in March.
He posted:
“So… I can finally announce..! ATL 2 is officially going down. @troubleman31, @albeback ,@jackielong and ya boi outchea putting this sequel together, led by our director @mrrobotodirector AKA “The General”. The people want it, so we’re doing it! #ATL2″
This also contradicts statement’s made by T.I. and Albert Daniels about the film. What’s up with that?
While Lauren London tried to remain very hush-hush about anymore details about the maybe upcoming sequel she did share her ideas for her character New-New if the film did indeed take off. She said, “I feel like the character and all her aesthetics should remain important. Like her hair and her lipgloss, [etc.], I wouldn’t want to lose that. Even though she does grow up, I think she should still be funky, fresh and spunky. I would keep that.”
I guess ATL fans will have to just sit tight and hope that the film does pull through.
