If you did not know already, a Cleveland Police Officer was found not guilty of voluntary manslaughter after he stood on the hood of a car occupied by two unarmed individuals and shot them 15 times after their car was already hit multiple times by other officers. As expected, there has been unrest in the city and LeBron spoke calling for the people to focus their energy in other areas. Click more to read the full story!
The judge in the case ruled that the officer was not guilty, even after fellow officers had already shot the car up over 100 times and the officer proceeded to stand on top of it, aim his gun, and fire 15 shots into the bodies of the car’s occupants. SMH. You can imagine the unrest that would follow after this judgement.
LeBron was asked his opinion on the matter but, as always, LeBron is staying politically correct and declined to give his opinion on the subject. He did, however, call for the city of Cleveland to channel their energy and bring it to Sunday’s game 3 Eastern Conference final game between the Cavs and the Hawks. LeBron was heard saying, “For the city of Cleveland, let’s use our excitement or whatever passion that we have for our sport tomorrow for the game tomorrow night, bring [the passion] to the game [Sunday] night,” and I understand that he has to be politically correct about situations but to ask them to come and support your basketball game? They give their support to the squad and then what?
LeBron, also mentioned that we should never resort to violence, no matter the scenario, “Violence is not the answer, and it’s all about trying to find a solution for good or for bad.” While I agree that violence is never the answer, I do feel that telling them to attend the game in place of peacefully protesting in Cleveland’s streets is somewhat selfish. A great point that LeBron made, though, was the fact that we should be focusing on the families that were involved in this tragedy and he is absolutely right.
