Drake just wrapped up his second annual Houston Appreciation Weekend, but his haters have not stopped hating. This year, Drake found new ways to honor native artists like Bun B and recognize the entire city, including their local government and, of course, the kids. While most think Drake’s appreciation weekend was admirable, there’s one local artist who called out the OVO founder for not representing local talent during #HAW. See what this Houston rapper had to say after the jump!
A local Houston rapper called out Drake on Instagram for not representing local artists during Houston Appreciation Weekend. Houston emcee Sauce Walka said that Drake uses Houston’s culture for lyrical content and doesn’t give back. He also said that Drake makes music with artists from everywhere but Houston.
Drake’s stark response by using only three sleeping emojis seemed fair since Sauce Walka seemed to be real cool with Drizzy last month in one of his past Instagram photos. Nevertheless, the Houston rapper followed-up his brief rant with another photo of one of Drake’s previous posts, which looks like he gave Sauce a cosign AND hinted at a remix of his track “2 Legited.” We’ll see how far Sauce takes this beef. Check out the photos of Sauce and Drake in the gallery above.
