IFWT_JR Smith Cavs

Being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers is probably one of the best things to ever happen to JR Smith and he’s not shy about displaying his happiness.  On Wednesday night the Cavaliers beat the Atlanta Hawks 97-89 to take game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.  They won off the great play from their superstar LeBron James but he also got some record breaking help from Smith.

JR Smith scored 28 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists in 36 minutes off the bench.  He was 8-of-12 from the three-point line and those 8 three-pointers set a Cavaliers franchise record for most three’s made in a playoff game.  The previous record was 7 three-pointers made by none other than LeBron James.

Following the game Smith was interviewed on the court and asked what contributed to his better play.  Smith’s reply:

“I mean I don’t know, I’m just being myself.  They seem to accept that more here and just having fun.”

Hmmm I guess the Knicks didn’t let JR “be himself”.  Smith previously said that the reason he’s playing better in Cleveland is because he doesn’t have the nightlife distractions he had in New York but maybe something more was going on here.  He did throw another shot at the Knicks previously during the Cavs playoff series against the Bulls saying “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” with a pic of himself and Iman Shumpert.  Well Phil Jackson did trade him and Iman to Cleveland for a bag of peanuts, that is a bit disrespectful.
