Early in Vernon Davis’s career, he was known as a distraction and for not being a team player; leading to one of the greatest coaching rants, ever, by then coach, Mike Singletary. After that situation, Davis earned the respect of the locker room, after he matured and became one of the top tight ends in the NFL. Well it docent look like everyone around him shared the same sentiment: former teammate Frank Gore took to instagram today to let Davis know how he feels.
Vernon Davis missed the majority of the 2014-15 season, as he suffered through a nagging back-injury. Looks like Gore wasn’t buying Davis standing on the sideline for a majority of the year and wanted his pro bowl tight end on the field with the rest of the offense.
Frank Gore also may be a bit salty after the 49ers didn’t resign their all-time leading rusher and he bolted to sign with the Indianapolis Colts. Whatever the reason, its tough to judge If Davis’s injury was legit or not, but he did try on multiple occasions to return to the field but couldn’t stay on.
Davis is known as one of the more emotional players in the league and was one of quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s favorite targets. Looks like there may have been some chemistry issues in the 49ers locker room, that may have led them to missing the playoffs last year.
