There are claims of an object striking Amtrak Train 188 before it derailed. FBI is now on the case.
Tuesday night Amtrak Train 188 was derailed and left eight people dead, and about 200 people injured. Washington Post has reported that the National Transportation Safety Board a unidentified assistant train conductor over heard a engineer another engineer that something may have hit the train right before it derailed off the tracks and crashed. According to the Washington Post this is what triggered the investigation:
“NTSB member Robert Sumwalt said investigators found damage to the left-hand side of the train’s windshield and had called on the FBI to inspect it because of that agency’s forensic expertise. The FBI was expected to begin the analysis Friday night, he said.”
ABC news reported Brandon Bostian a train engineer had spoke to investigators explaining that what he can remember before the crash was ringing the bell as it passed through North Philadelphia also did not mention anything about having a conversation with another engineer.
ABC Philadelphia reported that a police scanner picked up that a SEPTA train was also struck by an object on the same night of the Amtrak derailment.
