The main event between Canelo Alvarez and James Kirkland is scheduled to go down tonight in Houston at the Houston Astros Stadium (Minute Maid Park). Following the historic Mayweather/Pacquiao fight, tonight’s showdown is sure to entertain boxing fans! Click more to read the full story!
For those boxing fans that were not completely satisfied with Mayweather’s win against Pacquaio due to Floyd’s fighting style, you might want to tune in tonight. Both Kirkland and Alvarez are known as sluggers so the intensity between the two will definitely be present.
The fight is scheduled for 12 rounds and will be airing on HBO. It is a great thing that the fight will not be airing o PPV after many “boxing fans” were left upset, yet again at Floyd’s fighting style, for a lack of slugging between Manny and Floyd (seems like people are mad after every Mayweather fight). I am not too confident that Kirkland/Alvarez would brought in numbers anywhere near Mayweather/Pacquiao.
Tale Of The Tape…
James Kirkland is going into the match with 33 total fights, with 32 wins, 28 knock outs, and 1 loss. Kirkland weighed in at 154 1/2 pounds, stands at 5’9″ and has a reach of 70 inches.
Canelo Alvarez is going into the match with 46 total fights, 44 wins, 31 knockouts, 1 loss, and one draw. Alvarez weighed in at 154 1/2 pounds, stands at 5’9″ and has a reach of 71 inches.
These two are pretty much even down the line in terms of physical appearance so the fight is sure to entertain. Unfortunately, the fight scheduled to place before Alvarez/Kirkland–Soto/Gomez–has been 86’d due to Gomez missing weight. Tune into HBO at 9pm!
