Imagine paying $99 dollars tonight to order the biggest fight in boxing history between Floyd Mayweather & Manny Pacquiao, and at some point during the fight your pay per view feed just drops. You would literally lose your mind and possibly throw your television out the window. Sounds like a stretch but HBO & Showtime execs are very scared at the threat of it happening due to too many orders being placed.

There has never been a fight with the anticipation this one has and it has lead to more pay per view orders than ever before.
Both Showtime and HBO said that early pay-per-view orders for Saturday’s Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Manny Pacquiao bout “are tracking higher than they have ever seen, and that initial numbers have been so robust there are concerns the system might not be able to handle the surge of buyers,” according to Bob Velin of USA TODAY. They “urged those who plan to buy the fight to order early to avoid possible problems late.”
Usually execs in charge of an event like this would never tell the public they are worried about something like that happening, but just the fact they did shows it is a real concern. They know the backlash could be ugly if the feed drops on one of the biggest nights in the history of sports.
