U.S capitol police officers that were assign to secure the top two Republicans in Congress left their Glock pistols in the bathroom stalls by accident. But, this is not the first time that this is reported. A housekeeper who works at the Capitol police headquarters have reported a misplaced gun while cleaning.
The first incident happened in January, when an employee for the Congressional Visitors’ Center reported a Glock jammed into the holder. The second was back in March, when the police of House Speaker John Boehner left his gun in the stall after using the toilet. The loaded gun was found by a young child.
The main issue and concern behind this situation is that these people are presented to be the elite, however are forgetting their fully loaded weapons nearly anywhere. The risk that this brings is inevitably high, being that these U.S issued Glock pistols do not have safety locks.
Chairman of the Capitol Police Board and Senate Sergeant-at-arms Frank Larkin, says all these incidents will be placed under investigation. There has been recommendations that the officers in the first incident should be suspended for six days without pay, while the others are still placed under investigation.
