Let’s start up with a new edition to IFWT with a Throwback Thursday, sneaker edition. Every Thursday we will bring you a flashback of some dope kicks from back in the day. Hopefully, some of these kicks will be on the list to be retro’d one day. This week we going to kick things off with a classic from Jordan Brand, the Air Jordan 16 in the ‘Ginger’ colorway. Read more after the jump.
The Air Jordan XVI OG+ (light ginger/ dark charcoal-white) were released back on November 24, 2001 and they retailed for $160. The shoe is made from a yellow suede upper with blue eyelets. The Air Jordan 16 is such a unique shoe because it derives from other Air Jordan models. The Air Jordan 16 also came out the same year that Michael Jordan came out of retirement for the second time and joined the Washington Wizards.
A lot of dope features are included in these shoes. For example, the Air Jordan 16 feature a hidden lacing system (where the removable gators are used to hide the laces), Zoom Air insoles, and also patent leather on certain colorways.
