26 year old, Harlem rapper, A$AP Rocky has the cover story for the May 1st issue of Billboard magazine. In it, he discusses the differences between celebrities and artists, his taste in music, his taste in fashion, and the death of A$AP Yams.

When asked about his music tastes, Rocky proved to be eclectic, and admitted he only skimmed through Kendrick Lamar’s album. He mentioned groups like The Stooges and The Kinks, Portishead, even Tame Impala as inspirational. As he prepares to release his second album At. Long. Last. A$AP. due May 12th, there’s some pressure to produce hits like “F***ing Problem”, but Rocky is un-bothered as he doesn’t focus on what people think and dedicates himself to being an artist. He also has a unique style, and his fashion endeavors are covered in the interview as well. In regards to the accidental death of long time friend and co-founder, Steven Rodriguez (A$AP Yams), Rocky said he wants to finish what Yams started. “He left his notebooks, he left his blueprint. His album’s f***ing incredible. I want to finish what he started,” were his exact words. The magazine hits the shelves tomorrow, May 1st. Check out the cover in the gallery.
