Former LSU La’el Collins is wanted for questioning concerning the death of Britney Mills, his believed former ex-girlfriend, who was pregnant at the time of her murder. The investigation could not have come at a worse time, as Collins is expected to be a high-draft-pick and the investigation may hurt his draft stock, may cause him to lose millions of guaranteed money.
As the draft is set to begin on thursday, all prospects try to stay on their best behavior, as any blemish on their character may give teams worry on using a high draft choice on potential prospects. This investigation could not have come at a worse time, as Collins is expected to be drafted in the 1st round.
Collins attorney commented on the situation:
“We took the investigation seriously,” Collins’ attorney, Jim Boren, said, via Schefter. “We’ve tried to rule him out as a suspect. We’re going to provide that information to the police, and ultimately (Collins) will sit down and talk to them. But the timing is poor.”
According to Adam Scefter of espy, many NFL teams are also interested to know if Collins was the father of the baby, who is in medical treatment after being born following Mills death.
