This is something I was not expecting to see at all. The guys at FoneFox tossed a $600 Apple Watch Sport Edition in the shallow end of a pool and watched what happened. They somehow managed to get the device working under water as well. Check out the insane video after the jump!
Apple does not publicly promote their new wearable’s water resistant capabilities. Apple has the water resistant information at the very end of the spec list. It is however a smart move on their part because being water resistant is far from being water proof. According to the “IP Code” The Apple Watch’s water resistance has a rating of IPX7. Which means technically the watch should survive random dips in water as deep as 1M (3.2 feet) for 30 minutes. This has got to sound crazy to TatWza. Anytime longer or deeper than that and you are skating on thin ice. Most pools and bodies of water we swim in tend to be more than 3 feet deep so ideally you should keep it dry. This does however appeal to avid Apple users epspecially ones that have had water damage on their devices that Apple is somewhat stepping up in the durability category.
