Well, that escalated quickly. Earlier, I reported that Rick Carlisle did not believe Rondo would return to the Mavs next season and there just may be some truth to that.
Yahoo sports seems to have some inside scoop and Rondo and his intentions with the Dallas Mavericks. According to Adrian Wojnarowski with Yahoo Sports, Rondo was not planning to go to Dallas, but he did plan to sign with the Lakers in the summer after leaving the Celtics. I Guess he 86’d that plan or nah?
Not directly from Rondo’s mouth but there are reports saying that Rondo will leave the Mavs if Rick Carlisle is still the head coach. In my opinion, the Mavs organization definitely values Rick Carlisle’s contribution to the organization more than Rondo’s so I guess we can assume how this will play out.
Rondo and Kobe playing on the same team? While people may be saying Rondo’s stock is dropping, I still think he can make a quality impact on an team–he just needs to be fully involved–and its the perfect opportunity to watch him flourish alongside the Black Mamba. The respect that these two players have for each other will definitely transfer over to the court. No doubt about that! Rondo is the type of player that needs those go hard or go home type of players around him and the Black Mamba is exactly that.
Do I think Kobe and Rondo will bump heads? They will, but its because they are both passionate players with the same championship mindset and it will not amount to much. Kobe is a champion and so is Rondo, lets respect that and prepare for what could be some good a$& basketball!
Update:
Signs of Rondo heading to the Lakers seem’s to be picking up steam as Bleacher Report is reporting that the Lakers will be players if the price for Rondo is at a certain low price. The Lakers are reportedly not going to sign Rondo to a max-deal and want to use some of their 22-millions dollars in cap space on other players, as well. The Lakers feel with Rondo in an purple-and-gold uniform they can also attract other players.
