Seth Rogen and James Franco did an excellent job displaying the other side of North Korea’s Leader Kim Jong-Un in the movie ‘The Interview.” Although it may had been an exaggerated attempt to show that he’s just a human, people of North Korea do not know anything outside of his governmental persona. It’s said to believe that if ‘The Interview’ is smuggled into North Korea, it might be the igniter to fire North Koreans to revolt. Find out who is giving this knowledge out after the jump.
Kang Chol Hwan is a defector who has dedicated his life to inform the people of his hometown, North Korea, that there is a different lifestyle outside of the peninsula. He has been smuggling copies of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ into the country for years. Hwan believes that the movie’s theme of overcoming poverty through opportunity uplifts the ones who watch it and brings a fresh outlook.
He also gives props to the ones who are beginning to smuggle ‘The Interview’ into the country by dropping them from an air balloon. This will be the first type of movie that shows the North Korea dictator in a different light, actually clowning him.
“The Interview will be the first time they see a movie that criticizes Kim Jong Un,” he says. “The conditions they see in American movies, they can’t imagine. It makes them think, maybe Americans aren’t as bad as we are told.”
A movie like ‘The Interview’ would in fact have the same type of effect to the citizenry as in the movie, since many have been questioning the propaganda given by the government.
