Running back Adrian Peterson has officially been reinstated into the NFL after his child abuse case. While Peterson is eager to get back on the field, he prefers it not be for the Minnesota Vikings. Unfortunately for him, the team is intent on keeping him but if they do decide to trade Peterson, they have a very steep asking price.
ESPN’s Adam Caplan appeared on SportsCenter and he noted that word around the NFL is that if the Vikings are going to seriously consider dealing the former Oklahoma back, then they will be commanding at least a first-round draft pick, with some other compensation thrown in as well. Specifically, the Vikings will be asking for a top-tier cornerback, a clear need on this team if they want to continue their success moving forward.
Many teams are interested in Peterson including the Dallas Cowboys but the Vikings asking price is too high and no team should even consider it. Not only is Peterson 30-years old, he’s also a year removed from the game. The career length of running backs aren’t very long in the league and he already has those two things working against him. While he’s surely one of the best we’ve seen in the game and I’m sure he still has something left in the tank, giving up that much for it, is too much.
