The Oklahoma City Thunder had a pretty rough year with all the injuries and their playoff hopes came down to the final day of the regular season. Though they beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 138-113, the New Orleans Pelicans also beat the San Antonio Spurs 108-103. The Thunder and Pelicans hold the same 45-37 record but the Pelicans held the tie breaker and are heading to the playoffs with the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference. It left MVP candidate Russell Westbrook understandably pissed off.
Russell Westbrook lost his partner in crime and reigning MVP Kevin Durant, but he tried to pick up the slack as best he could. Westbrook put up astounding numbers each night and led the NBA in triple doubles by a large margin. All this resulted in Westbrook winning the scoring title, leading the league with 28.1 ppg and other MVP candidate James Harden finishing second with 27.4 ppg.
While many thought the shot-gunner would be happy about winning the scoring title, he let the world know it didn’t mean “sh*t” because he will be sitting at home watching instead of participating in the playoffs.
“Shit. It doesn’t mean nothing. Good job. Hooray. I’m at home, watching other teams play. It doesn’t mean nothing.”
