Russell Westbrook has been putting up some incredible numbers for the Oklahoma City Thunder including a ridiculous amount of points and racking up triple doubles. The only problem is, Westbrook’s efficiency has gone down tremendously and though he’s kept the Thunder alive, they’ve also lost a few games where he put up big numbers. Fans and the media have praised Westbrook for putting the team on his back but he’s also gotten a lot of backlash for his inefficiency. If there’s one person who knows this story quite well it’s Kobe Bryant and he took to his Twitter account to defend Westbrook.
On Sunday Westbrook dropped 54 points but he was 21-of-43 from the field and the Thunder suffered a heartbreaking 116-104 loss to the Indiana Pacers.
The 43 field-attempts were the most by any player since Kobe Bryant attempted 44 shots against the Seattle SuperSonics in 2008.
The Black Mamba knows how it feels to be criticized about taking numerous shot attempts and has never been apologetic about it so Kobe Bryant defends Russell Westbrook.

Westbrook’s technical foul that was issued on Sunday was rescinded and he was around to help the Thunder beat the Trail Blazers 101-90 on Monday night, putting up 36 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Their playoff destiny is still in the hands of the New Orleans Pelicans however. If the Pelicans lose to the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday then the Thunder is in with the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference.
