Lots of things are debatable in life and an experienced judge has seen a lot of things, but one of the most revered TV judges did not see this coming and you can’t really blame his reaction! Judge Mathis Shocked Over White Man Who Spit and Kicked Police saying firmly “I guess there is a difference.” (SMH) #Facts.
Talk about timing: It’s interesting to see Judge Mathis Shocked Over White Man Who Spit and Kicked Police since we’re not even a week into two more hashtags for the #BlackLivesMatter list of deaths by excessive police force. Walter Scott and Eric Harris, the latest casualties of failed police protocol and systemic racism were both running away from police when they were fatally hit with gunshots. With the renewal of uproar that’s caused you can’t blame Judge Mathis for having to read the police report twice while facing a young Caucasian male in his courtroom.
The vid originally reposted on World Star shows a nervous laugh among the audience, some clapping, and one woman putting her face in her hands when Judge Mathis Shocked Over White Man Who Spit and Kicked Police happened. He read the following from the report out loud and ran right into his shock:
“While in the apartment I observed a broken window and large amounts of glass on the floor, blood smeared across nearly every wall in the apartment. Then Derrick says…Derrick says you were SPITTIN’ on the police officers??? These officers say you were KICKIN’ THEM??? Spittin’ and kicking’ on the police, and YOU’RE still alive…I guess there’s some type of difference [head bobs sarcastically]. Anyhow…WOW…”
…well, damn indeed!!! It’s amazing this was the scene police walked into on top* of the “spittin and kickin” and still very tame—compared even to the child deaths of Aiyana Jones and Tamir Rice. As Judge Mathis Shocked Over White Man Who Spit and Kicked Police happened the young man in question stood there, quickly smirked and nodded as if to say, “yes, I’m still alive.”
No doubt many people wish that was the case for more men, women and children.
