Steph Curry is all the talk this morning after his monster game last night against the Blazers, where he dropped 45 points and broke his own single season record for three pointers made. Everyone woke up today saying the MVP race is now over, because that is what people do. They let emotions impact their statements and totally forget about reality. Just because Steph had a good game last night does not mean he has outperformed James Harden the entire season and Harden has no problem saying he deserves the award more.

“I feel as though I am the MVP,” he said. “I think the MVP is the most valuable player to your team. Obviously, you have to be winning and be one of the top teams in this league, and we are. I’m not taking credit away from anybody else in the league. But I’ve been consistent all year. I’ve just been doing the right things to put my team in situations to win, considering all of the different circumstances we’ve had to deal with.”
Harden also said that he’s been amazed by what Curry has been able to do. But he’s still giving himself the nod over the Golden State star.
“I’m looking at all those things put together,” he said. “Not taking away from Steph or that team. It’s an unbelievable season that they’re having. But we’re having a pretty good season as well with all the injuries and all that we’ve been going through this season…Look, I understand that people can go either way with it. But for the most valuable player, I think I would have the edge.”
I happen to agree 100% with Harden on this one. He has had much less to work with than Steph, while keeping his team as one of the best in the West all on his own. Harden leads the league in scoring and anyone with a brain can see the Rockets roster is not up to par with Golden State overall, yet the Rockets are right there among the leaders of the West. You take Steph off the Warriors team they will still be decent. You can’t say the same for Houston if they were missing Harden while Dwight Howard was out.
