Barron Machat, CEO and co-founder of Hippos in Tanks has passed away. The cause of the 27-year-old’s death has not been confirmed, however, Tri Angle Records has made the announcement via Twitter. “I hate twitter RIPs in general, but Barron Machat’s passing has really upset me beyond words. We came up together,” the tweet reads.

Hippos in Tank is a Los Angeles-based record label that’s known to think outside of the box. Machat co-founded the label with longtime friend, Travis Woolsey in 2010 and has worked with artists from Hype Williams to James Ferraro. Rest in peace.
