Welp, it looks like Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has a big debt to fill. More than a year ago, Romo took a selfie with Jahlil Okafor. At the time Okafor was slated to become a highly touted freshman at Duke and posted the selfie on Instagram with a “deal” he made with Romo. Okafor fulfilled his end and now Romo is up.
Okafor promised a Duke Blue Devils title and Romo promised a Cowboys championship.
It’s unknown why the Chicago native Okafor would want a Cowboys championship (although the San Diego-born, Wisconsin-raised former Eastern Illinois player Romo doesn’t have a direct connection to Duke, either), but that’s no matter.
As you know, Okafor and the Blue Devils won the NCAA Mens National Championship with a win over Wisconsin and now Romo has to fill his promise. The deal may have been for Romo to win the Super Bowl in 2014, but we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that 2015 is part of the deal.
Romo led the Cowboys to the divisional round of last season’s playoffs but were eliminated by the Green Bay Packers in a heartbreaking and very controversial loss (Just type in “Dez caught it” on Twitter).
This year will be a lot harder for the Cowboys as many teams have improved during the offseason with blockbuster trades and free agency moves, while the Cowboys lost their star running back DeMarco Murray.
