What is the history of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity? I would like to know some of the details. It seems as though the ignorance and racism is becoming a mainstream within these groups. A group of SAE members of Clemson University in South Carolina were suspended due to their racist behavior.

When bad ideas become the worst mistakes. The SAE fraternity decided to throw a Christmas party, but with a spin. Sounds good, right? Well, the spin was that they make it gang-themed and call it … CRIPMAS. Gang members with red and blue bandannas and fake tattoos was the fraternity’s portrayal of the hood. SAW also invited some of their sorority ‘sisters’ – dressed up as “b***hes” and “h*es” – to join in. It was all good until they decided to use social media as a tool to show-off their special idea. “Merry Cripmas to all, and [to] all a hood night,” was the caption. Now, the consequences is suspension … for two years. Hmmm, they’re thugs. I’m sure they can handle it. HA!
Per Clemson University president James Clements:
“At a time of year when our thoughts are turning to family, holidays and the start of a new year – all the things that unite us and bring us joy — it is discouraging that so many events and issues are causing division and hurt, and making many students feel unwanted at this great university. ‘It hurts to read disrespectful and just plain mean comments in social media. Last night’s ”Cripmas” party, which the university did not sanction, raised more concerns about the campus climate. Clemson is better than this. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion about events in Ferguson, Staten Island and the protest rallies that those events have spawned. Great universities are built on the free expression and exploration of ideas. But the free expression of opinion must not cross the line and become harassment or intimidation, just as rallies and protest marches must not cross the line to lawlessness.”
Last month, the SAE fraternity of University of Oklahoma were expelled for their part in a bus chant that made sure to let listeners know that “there will never be a n*gger SAE!” TERRIBLE.
