David Autry, The man who was assaulted said he was riding on a MetroLink light-rail vehicle when a man asked him to use his cell phone. He also asked Autry for his opinion on the Michael Brown case. Autry says he replied back by saying he hadn’t thought much about it, and his answer is what led to the assault. Cell phone video footage recorded the violent interaction of the incident. The footage was taken by another passenger in the back of the public transportation. The footage shows a young black male in a red shirt and hat scream, punch, and kick Autry and another man in a gray shirt also punches him as well. Autry was assaulted about a dozen times and he had many injuries on his face but he did not want medical treatment. The person who’s recording the video can be heard laughing and no one tried to help or stop the attack from happening.
Autry says, “I think it was disgusting that no one (helped)…People were sort of laughing and smiling about it. No one offered to help and no one attempted to call 911.” Autry created a GoFundMe page to raise $5,000 to buy a motorcycle so that he won’t have to take public transportation anymore. He says, “I can’t say much right now folks but I know the police are making progress in this case. Thanks so much for all the support!”
